A deployment ceremony, was held at the Opelika High School Auditorium this afternoon, for the 111th ordinance group of the National Guard.  Because of church and my children’s propensity for irritability when they are hungry, I went alone.  I wish I hadn’t.  There are few scenes more moving to me than a soldier saying goodbye to his wife and kids so that my wife and kids are secure in their Freedom.  I wish my children would have been there to get a little more tangible view of the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make for the rest of us.  Opelika and Lee County however made a strong showing of support for these humble heroes.  OA News Article Here.
