Endorsement of Keith and Kristen Edwards: In today’s hedonistic society it is more than a little difficult to raise a child when you have to compete with other parents and guardians that are too selfish or afraid to correct or direct a child or who act like a child themselves by encouraging drinking, partying, and whatever else happens under “adult supervision”. Unfortunately, it seems that there are fewer and fewer people that are willing to parent, mentor, or raise a child with self discipline. It is incredibly hard to get through to a child when they are being influenced by such damaging outside sources.
This is one of the reasons we need Mike Fellows as Family and Juvenile Court Judge. Mike has a demeanor, I’ll go so far as to say an aura about him, that gets through to kids who come before him. Whatever it is that Mike possesses naturally that can get through to an ungovernable child and help them change their life is a gift worth sharing. My vote would go to Mike on that “gift” alone but there is much more to Mike than that.
Mike is a person that really cares about the kids. He wants to get them out of a current bad situation but more so, he wants them to have a future. Mike is willing to do whatever he can to open doors so some kids will have hope. He has fought to keep youth programs like “Scared Straight” running. He is willing to give direction, discipline, and consequences to kids that have never known any of these.
Being Family Court Judge is hard enough when he has the support of the parents but in many cases parents are absent from the child’s life or worse yet they fight against the court’s decisions. Mike has the experience to deal with whatever situation arises. I truly believe that Mike Fellows is not only the best choice for Family Court Judge he is the ONLY choice because our Children are too important for us to let his talents go to waste. One day it could be your child that needs him.
Keith and Kristen Edwards, Beauregard
Endorsement of Attorney Jeff Tickal: I’ve known Mike for several years and for the past three as his law partner. While it will mean losing an excellent law partner, I wholeheartedly support his candidacy for Circuit Court Judge Place 3, Family Court because I believe he is the right choice for the job.
The position of Family Court Judge may be the most important race in this election. Family Court affects us all. It deals with families and children who are hurting as well as children who are in trouble. Mike has a passion to help those who end up in Family Court.
Mike is ideally suited for Family Court Judge because he is fair, compassionate, decisive, and yet always takes the time to listen. He listens, and then makes fair and just decisions based on the law.
I have tried a number of cases with Mike. He has the trial skills and knowledge to effectively handle the position of Family Court Judge. He manages his law practice with care and attention to his clients. He’ll do the same thing in Family Court.
Mike is a conservative who lives his life daily focused on love of God, love of his family, and love of his country. He seeks his guidance from a higher power and lives his life accordingly.
The Family Court Judge who takes the seat in January will need to hit the ground running. Mike’s six years of serving Lee County as a referee in Family Court gives him the knowledge, skills, and experience to do it well.
Vote with me on June 1, in the Republican Primary, for my friend, Mike Fellows.
Jeff Tickal, Opelika
Endorsement of Joe Denison, Jr.: I am an 18 year old Physics major at Auburn University and have lived in Lee County for nearly 15 years. I heartily endorse Mr. Mike Fellows for the position of Family Court judge. He is a proven family man and conservative. I have seen him many times coming out of church with his family. His love for his family is evident and I consider him as a role model as I prepare to lead my future family. He is one of the few men in this day and age who talks the talk and walks the walk. This is the first election I can participate in and I will be proud to cast my first vote for Mr. Fellows.
Joe Denison, Jr.
Endorsement of Jan Eason: I have known Mike Fellows for over 12 years and have worked with him for most of those. But during the past 3 ½ years since he has become a partner at Gullage, Tickal & Fellows, I have been blessed to be able to more closely watch him interact with people. He is a wise, kind, and patient man after God’s own heart. Mike believes in preserving the family and cares deeply what happens to people, especially children. In my position I have the opportunity to listen to feedback from our clients. There are three things that stand out in their minds: (1) he is a godly man (2) he is a good listener, and (3) he has a calming effect on people. I believe that Mike Fellows is well suited for Family Court Judge. For Mike, it is not about politics, it is about people!
Jan Eason
Endorsement of Jess Margeson: After college graduation, I was fortunate to land my first job with Mike. We worked together for several years and eventually our professional relationship became a friendship. Since that time, we have remained close friends and he has become a kind of ‘’older brother’’ figure to me-I always feel free to go to Mike for advice, resting assured that his counsel will be both thoughtful and wise. I have also had the privilege of serving with Mike for the past four years on the Republican Executive Committee, where we work hand in hand to promote the Republican Party here in Lee County. Whether we are cleaning up after an event, or passing out campaign signs, Mike has always been a prime example of a servant leader-he is always eager to volunteer and lend a hand. More than that, he is a kind friend with a soft heart and a listening ear.
Both Mike and Carrie live out Micah’s admonition to ‘’act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God’’ and it has been my honor to serve as his campaign manager. I look forward to calling my friend Mike ‘’Judge Fellows’’ in a matter of months!
Jess Margeson, Opelika, Alabama (Jess is the owner of Frou Frou event planning and the President of the Lee County Republican Club)
Endorsement of Shane Kyles: Mike should be our next Family Court Judge. He truly believes in helping families and young people. He will do what is right and will judge based on the law. I believe many will benefit in our community with Mike as Family Court Judge. He is guided by his strong faith in Jesus Christ and lives what he believes.
Shane Kyles, Opelika
Endorsement from Kristin Hunt: I was Blessed to meet Mike Fellows when I first moved to Auburn almost four years ago. Since meeting Mike, I was Blessed again to be able to meet his wonderful wife Carrie, and their precious children. Mike and his family are such a gift to our community that it is difficult to just write a few ways in which I have seen him enrich our city, thereby positively impacting each and every one of us. Mike Fellows gives of his time to those in need, or in any form of crisis, not just because he went to law school to do it….he helps others because it is who he is, a gift to our community. He is so very patient and fair minded and can take a situation that is seemingly overwhelming to an individual or to a family, and has a gift of “calming the storm”. Mike’s gentle and calm nature allows a person or family to trust that he will not only be fair, but he will do whatever it takes to be fair. This is something that is almost unheard of in these times that we are living in today. Mike doesn’t just take the time to “hear” you, Mike takes the time to “listen” to you. There is an enormous difference! I know that Mike will make an excellent Family Court Judge because he is a listener, a leader, and a true man of his word!! Thank you Mike Fellows for running for this position…we are a very lucky community to have you!!!
Kristin Hunt, Auburn
Endorsement of Sara Ingram, Opelika: Mike Fellows has many “paper” qualifications for the job of Lee County Family Court Judge. His best qualification however cannot be put on paper – it is his obvious heart for the families, particularly the children, of Lee County. Mike knows the law, and he will apply it with a grace that will be of benefit to many who need his wise and compassionate guidance.
Sara Ingram, Opelika
Endorsement of Dora Freeman: I’ve been watching the controversial healthcare legislation. It occurs to me how interesting it is that many, if not most, of those people that we’ve entrusted to speak on our behalf in the Senate, or the House, are self-serving. I support Mike Fellows for Lee County Family Court Judge, and believe that there are countless individuals that feel the same because he is NOT like these people. While the healthcare legislation is miles away from who we will ultimately choose as our Family Court Judge, in the end, who we are as a country begins with who we are as individual states. Who we are as individual states has a direct connect to each city and town. Those cities and towns are made up of individual families. If anyone understands this, and has a die-hard conviction to use his understanding to better our state of affairs from Auburn to Washington, D.C. it’s Mike Fellows. I first met Mike about thirteen years ago when I went to work in a law office, thinking that move would best prepare me for my life goal of operating as a child advocate in the legal world. I was trying to decide how best to put into words what occurred over the next eight years that I had the honor to work as an assistant to Mike Fellows, because ultimately, while I learned a lot about the legal world it was in those eight years that I received the most important lessons that would best prepare me to go into the world. If I may borrow from my eight year old’s tenets in Tae Kwon Do: it was NOT Mike’s words, but his LIFESTYLE that taught me volumes about honor, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, courage, community, strength, humility and knowledge. Oh, and by the way, I was a by-product of one of those dysfunctional, broken homes that Mike sees all too often as a judicial referee. A Christian Counselor asked me not too long ago, “Dora, do you realize how out of the ordinary it is that you’re a successful Christian, given everything that you’ve been through? Do you get that statistically, you should have been atheist, agnostic, addicted, or in prison?” Well, in answer to her question, my response has to be, “Yes! I get it.” Not only do I get it, but I attribute who I am now first to God, then to those families that surrounded me and determined that they could make a difference. Mike and his beautiful family were central to my success. I encourage ALL our citizens to understand how crucial it is that they join with me to do all we can to elect Mike Fellows- not just to this position of Family Court Judge, but to his calling. Join with me. Let’s pray and work to put him in that place that he can continue to make a difference “one family at a time.”
Dora Freeman, Auburn Christian Academy
Endorsement of Kellie Sirmon, Attorney: There is a specific Scripture that stands in my mind when I think of Mike and the type of judge he will be. Micah 6:8 says “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God?” I cannot pen words any better that this to describe the confidence and trust I have in Mike and his ability to be one of the most gracious, humbled, and trustworthy judges Lee County has ever been privileged to have. After working with Mike for 2 years, I know first hand how intelligent, hard-working, and committed to God’s kingdom he is. Without a doubt, I am confident that Mike is the right choice for Lee County Family Court Judge.
Kellie Segrest Sirmon, Attorney at Law
Endorsement of Kate Larkin, Opelika: Over the past year, I have had the privilege to meet Mike Fellows and witness his personal judicial process. I want to share my support of this most capable, caring, and equitable candidate for Lee County Family Court Judge. Having seen him in Court in his present post of Family Court Referee, I can tell you that he was both fair and just, and we left the justice center inspired by a court official who not only did what was fair, but even more importantly, what was best for the children who were before him.
I had not even heard of Mike Fellows until this experience, but his compassionate way of handling the situation left a profound impression on me. If you want an honorable Family Court Judge in Lee County who takes the time to consider each case, cares about the well-being of each child, and then does what is best for THAT child, Mike Fellows is your candidate.
Kate Larkin, Opelika
Endorsement from Attorney Darren Olsen: I have known Mike Fellows for approximately two years. Mike was one of the first individuals in Auburn to welcome me to this great city. Personally I have enjoyed getting to know Mike and his family and have found him to be man of high integrity. As a fellow attorney, I have turned to Mike for advice and have professionally referred a friend to him who was dealing with a difficult family issue. I believe that Mike possesses the right combination of integrity, legal knowledge and common sense to serve the families Lee County as judge. It is my honor to recommend Mike Fellows for Lee County Family Court Judge.
Darren Olsen, Auburn
Endorsement of Andrew Barnes: Mike Fellows is a smart man. More importantly, Mike Fellows is a good man who truly cares about people. From his experience as a referee in Lee County Family Court, he knows firsthand the difficulties and hardships that people endure. He knows that we are all products of our family life, and that most problems arise from poorly-functioning families. He has a strong desire to strengthen families through his life’s work. He will be fair, compassionate, and wise as Family Court Judge. I strongly endorse Mike Fellows.
Andrew Barnes, Chick Fila Tigertown and Chick Fila Auburn Student Center
Endorsement from Randy Aldridge: Having known Mike Fellows for many years, I can attest to his integrity and unwavering character. Mike loves his family and fully appreciates the important role of the family unit in our society. As Family Court Judge, he would show great wisdom in his application of the law in regard to families, demonstrating justice and mercy. Please join me in voting for Mike Fellows, a proven conservative we can trust.
Randy Aldridge, Physical Therapist, Auburn
Endorsement from Coach Wade Benson: Mike Fellows is an honest family man, knowledgeable and trustworthy, a true Auburn man. His passion for not only his own family, but for the betterment of all those around him is immeasurable. I am proud to support Mike Fellows for Lee County Family Court Judge.
Wade Benson, Auburn University Head Volleyball Coach
Endorsement of Allen Whitt former assistant to James Dobson: I have known Mike Fellows since 1988 and he has been working for the integrity of families in Alabama ever since.
Allen Whitt, Former Assistant to James Dobson, Focus on the Family
Endorsement of Cliff Knight, Pastor: Mike Fellows is a family man. He is a man of integrity that walks blamelessly in our society. He is honest, discerning and wise beyond his years, uniquely qualifying him to serve as Family Court Judge. He will show compassion where compassion is needed and firmness where firmness is needed. Mike Fellows has a heart for the hurting families of our community. He will be diligent to give careful thought to every individual and their situation while having the due understanding of law and wisdom to make wise judgments. I have complete confidence that Mike Fellows will make an outstanding Family Court Judge for Lee County.
Cliff L. Knight, Associate Pastor, Family Ministries, Lakeview Baptist Church
Endorsement of Rev. Chette Williams: It is my great privilege and honor to endorse Mike Fellows for Lee County’s Family Court Circuit Judge. I have had the privilege of being in Sunday School with my dear friends Mike & Carrie for the last several years. I have observed Mike’s integrity first-hand as I watch him serve his wife and family as a devoted husband and father. I have personally witnessed his love and intentional concern for his own four children, but I have also seen this concern extended to every other family I have ever seen him come in contact with.
Mike is a man of reputable character, valiant leadership, and firm conviction. He is a family man and a man of faith. His conservative values are consistent as he has been faithful to stand for his values and not sway under the tides of the popular current. If elected, I have full confidence that Mike will serve Lee County with faithfulness, fervor, and fortitude. “
Chette Williams (Chette is the Auburn University Football Chaplain and Campus Director of FCA)
Endorsement of Dr. Dell Crosby: I am close friends with Mike Fellows and his family having been in the same church for 20+ years and now together with he and his wife, Carrie, each Sunday morning for Bible Study. I can say Mike is absolutely the man we need for Family Court in East Alabama. His passion for family, childen, and parents (especially in challenging circumstances), is born out of personal experience and a solid foundation of Family and Faith in his own life. I know him to be a man of exceptional character and Integrity who stands solidly for conservative values so threatened by many current trends.
Dr. Dell Crosby, M.D. Auburn (Dr. Crosby is an ER physician at East Alabama Medical Center)
Endorsement of Dr. Trey and Mrs. Wynne Wages: In an era where moral relativism and political posturing are prevalent, it is refreshing to have a man like Mike Fellows as candidate for Family Court Judge. Mike’s conservative values are born not of convenience or political ideology. They are rooted in his love for God and his love for people. Realizing that “faith without works is dead,” Mike desires to put his convictions into action by serving the people of his home, the families of Lee County, as Family Court Judge. We are honored to call Mike and Carrie our friends and will be privileged to call Mike “Judge.”
Dr. and Mrs. Trey Wages
Endorsement by Judge Jim Gullage Having served as a Circuit Court Judge for twenty years and a municipal court judge for four and a half years, I know that being a judge, and especially a Family Court Judge, requires many skills, but three things in particular: Personality, Intelligence, and Experience. Mike Fellows has all three in abundance. Mike is not only qualified but well-suited to be Lee County’s next Family Court Judge. Mike has patience, compassion and understanding to handle the challenges of the position. The children, families, and citizens of Lee County will benefit with Mike Fellows as Family Court Judge.
James T. Gullage, Lee County Circuit Judge, Retired
Endorsement from Greg Key, Youth Pastor: Mike is the Man! As long as I have known Mike, there have been 2 things apparent to me…. 1) Mike loves Jesus and 2) Mike loves families. I have prayed for years that Mike would run for public office because I believe he is the type of man that will really impact our community in a positive way. I believe having Mike as a Family Court Judge, will be a giant step for Lee County in maintaining and building better families for our community. I fully support Mike and his love for families, and his long-reaching impact in Family Court.
Greg Key (Greg is the Youth Pastor at Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn)
Endorsement by Pastor Al Jackson: “I like Mike for Family Court Judge because he is a godly husband and father to his own family. Mike’s parents, Hugh and Patsy Fellows reared Mike with values of integrity, patriotism, civic responsibility, community service and churchmanship.”

Endorsement from Jonathan and Stacy Tinsley: We are voting for Mike Fellows as the next Family Court Judge of Lee County! We have known Mike and his precious family for several years and have nothing but wonderful things to say. They have been our dear friends in good and bad times, always being an encouragement and bringing us joy through their constant prayers and support. Mike and Carrie have been examples to us as Godly parents, even to the point of giving us advice at all hours of the day. As their friends, we have seen Mike and Carrie’s character and integrity in many life situations. We know their passion in life is to serve the Lord and give glory to Him! There is no doubt in our minds, that if elected, Mike will continue this commitment through his position as Family Court Judge!
Jonathan and Stacy Tinsley, Opelika
Endorsement of Jennifer Margeson: When you work for someone, you know their strengths and weaknesses and you see how they handle stress and pressure. As Mike’s assistant, I have the privilege of seeing him not only talk the talk but also walk the walk every day. Mike always reacts to situations with calmness and patience, and listens before he rushes to judgment. One of the first things I asked him when I started to work here was”Why are you running for Family Court Judge?” His answer was the right one. He’s not running because he wants to be a judge or because he wants to win or because of some lofty political goals–he’s running because he believes through his 6 years of experience as a judicial referee he’s found where he’s called to be–in Family Court. He feels the need to help the hurting people he sees in court everyday. I’m voting for Mike because I have no doubt he is the best person for the job. It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse Mike Fellows for Family Court Judge.
Jennifer Margeson, Opelika
Endorsement of Monica Weaver Hawkins: Having known three generations of the Fellows Family and knowing Mike for over 20 years I can say with all sincerity that he has a genuine faith, a heart devoted to his family and a loyalty and passion to his calling and community. It is my privilege to endorse Mike Fellows for Family Court Judge. Our community needs leaders with his integrity, knowledge and passion for Christ.
Monica Weaver Hawkins, Auburn
Endorsement from Perry Hinds, Chief Juvenile Probation Officer, ret.:
I have had the pleasure of serving the children and families of Lee County for nearly 30 years a Juvenile Probation Officer. The last 9 of those years I served the Lee County Family Court as its’ Chief Probation Officer until my retirement in February of 2009. In May of 2003, Judge Richard D. Lane, the current Family Court Judge, appointed Mike Fellows to serve as a Referee in the Family Court. Since that time Mike has heard more cases in the Family Court than any other Referee. The position of referee is an important one in that it requires the attorney appointed to that position to be so knowledgeable in the law that he or she may serve as a substitute for the judge. In other words, the referee must preside over cases as a judge would and rule on cases using the correct application of the law. This is vital because it allows Courts with heavy caseloads, such as Lee County’s, to handle that volume of cases without developing a serious backlog, and thus slow down the normal operations of the Court.
In the years I have worked in the Lee County Family Court, and had the opportunity to work with Mike Fellows, I have observed him to be knowledgeable of the law, firm when cases call for firmness, yet also understanding when that is called for as well. Mike never leans toward the prosecution, nor toward the defense side of a case before it starts. He is fair-minded, experienced in juvenile and family law, and uses good judgment in listening to all sides before making decisions which may have long-lasting effects on those who come before him.
I know Mike Fellows to be a man with a strong Christian background, and a man who knows the joys and responsibilities of being a good husband and outstanding father to four children. He is a man who uses these relationships, responsibilities and experiences to help form an outstanding judicial temperament that I have witnessed many times on the bench in the Lee County Family Court.
It is with great pleasure that I recommend to you the name of the Honorable Mike Fellows, for the position of Judge of the Lee County Family Court.
Perry Hinds, Chief Juvenile Probation Officer for Family Court, Lee Co.
Endorsement by Bryan Northcutt: I have known Mike Fellows for going on 20 years now so I can say with great confidence that he will make an excellent family court judge. When I think of what is required to be an excellent judge in Lee County family court, I think one requires two distinguishing characteristics. First, he must be willing to carry out the law in the best interest of the people that law represents. But secondly, he must be willing to look at the circumstances of the individuals in each case and understand the best way to help rehabilitate an individual. We see a lot of judges in our courts across the country that tend to sway to one extreme or the other when it comes to these two principles. I would say that there is not another individual I would trust more to walk that fine line than Mike Fellows. Mike understands the need to uphold the law and to punish law breakers. But he also understands and has a heart for people. I wholeheartedly throw my support behind Mike Fellows for family court judge. I hope you will too.
Bryan Northcutt, BEACON Insulation
Endorsement by Ronnie Cooper:
I am honored to endorse Mike Fellows for Family Court Judge. I have known Mike for at least twenty years. I also know Mike’s parents and many of Mike’s associates and people Mike attends church with. Let me assure you that there is no finer person with better character than Mike Fellows. He is a person we can count on to deliver fairness and justice in the courtroom. He can always be counted on to do the right thing.
Ronnie Cooper, Attorney at Law
